Professional Development

Underwood University is generally a teaching school, not a research institution. However, it is expected and desired that faculty members will continue to enhance their personal growth and professional development during their employment. Faculty members are encouraged to write and publish articles or books relevant to their fields; and to attend academic, leadership, or spiritual conferences or seminars.

To assist faculty members in these endeavors, Underwood University annually budgets funds for such activities. Requests for funds may be made in order to attend conferences, facilitate membership of professional associations, etc. Faculty must submit these requests to the Director of Academic Affairs for approval.

Underwood administration will periodically conduct faculty development sessions to aid in improving faculty skills. These sessions will be communicated to the faculty in advance.
